Privacy policy, explained simply

Privacy still matters in a one person project. I keep this page so you can see what MangoSave learns, what stays on your phone and what I never collect.

The short version

I built MangoSave without sign up accounts or ads. Most media work happens on your phone. I never see or save your Instagram password. I collect limited usage information so I can find broken features and make the app easier to use.

What MangoSave handles

On Android, MangoSave processes the links and media you share or enter. It may request a supported page and its media directly from Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Facebook, X, RedNote or their delivery services. Saved media goes to your Gallery. Temporary previews and recent save information stay on your phone until you, MangoSave or Android removes them.

On iPhone, MangoSave accepts photos and videos you choose from Photos, Files or the Share menu. The iPhone version does not download a pasted social media link.

Instagram connection

Some Instagram Stories, Highlights or login limited posts may need an Instagram connection on Android. Instagram displays its own secure sign in page. Your password goes directly to Instagram. I never see, receive or save it.

MangoSave keeps only an approved Instagram session value encrypted on your phone. You can erase the connection in Settings. Private or restricted media still works only when your Instagram account already has permission to view it.

What I learn from app use

MangoSave sends limited usage information to my secure service. This can include a random app identifier, phone type, operating system, app version, feature used, success or failure, media type and time. This helps me understand what works and what needs attention.

For a link attempt, my secure service may keep the normal public page link. Extra details after the main address are removed. It does not keep the separate photo or video delivery link. The random app identifier is not your social account and does not reveal your real identity.

I also use PostHog for a smaller summary of app activity. PostHog does not receive the random installation code, phone model or social link. Session replay, automatic screen capture, automatic interaction capture and automatic crash capture are turned off.

Website analytics

I use PostHog to count visits and learn which pages, sections and links people find useful. It records broad details such as screen size group, the referring website domain and whether a link stays here or opens another website.

I do not use session replay or automatic form and click capture. The website does not send form text, passwords, full web addresses with query details or personal account information. It uses an automatically created browser identifier so repeat visits and sessions can be counted.

Problem reports

If you select Send report, MangoSave sends your selected platform, issue, optional note, app version, operating system and phone model. Do not include a password or private information in the note. MangoSave does not automatically attach your social link or media.

Payments and updates

Android includes 10 successful saves each week and an optional one time Pro purchase through Google Play. Google Play handles the payment. I do not receive your payment card or bank details, and payment details are not sent to PostHog.

MangoSave checks a rule I control in PostHog to learn whether an update is available or required. The check sends the current app build and operating system name under one shared value. It does not send a social link, password, account or device identifier.

What I do not do

I do not sell personal data. I do not use it for advertising or tracking across other apps. PostHog processes the limited information explained above. Supported social platforms receive the normal secure requests needed to complete the action you choose and apply their own privacy terms.

Security and retention

Remote requests use HTTPS. Instagram session information is encrypted on your device. Detailed app usage events are kept for up to 180 days. PostHog summaries are kept for up to 12 months. Saved Gallery media remains until you delete it.

Your choices and requests

You can clear MangoSave app data in Android Settings and remove the optional Instagram connection inside MangoSave. You can also ask me to find or remove information linked to your app installation. A direct privacy contact address will be added here before the app is released.

Responsible use

Save only photos and videos you own or have permission to use. MangoSave does not bypass private accounts, access controls, digital rights protection, paywalls, age controls or region controls.

MangoSave is independent and is not affiliated with Instagram, Threads, Meta, TikTok, ByteDance, Facebook, X, X Corp, RedNote or Xiaohongshu.
